Which coffee maker is available?

Holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos has a Senseo coffee maker.

Is there a freezer?

No, there is a spacious refrigerator without a freezer or freezer compartment.

Is the garden fenced?

Holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos does not have a fully enclosed garden for dogs.

How many dogs are allowed?

We have set the maximum at 2 dogs. If you’d like to bring more dogs, feel free to check with us. For smaller dogs from the same household or older dogs, we sometimes make an exception. We don’t charge extra rent for dogs, but we do ask that dogs not be allowed on the bed or sofas. We also ask that dogs not be left alone locked in the holiday home. If there’s really no other option, we recommend bringing a crate. Dogs can quickly become nervous in unfamiliar homes, and the furniture is often the first outlet for that.

Is there a way for dogs to cool off in the summer? Can we go swimming somewhere with dogs?

There are several fens nearby where dogs can swim.

Are hiking maps available?

Printed hiking maps are no longer available. 200m from the holiday home there is a sign with all the hiking routes in the area. You can also find beautiful hiking routes in the immediate surroundings at wandelknooppunt.be.

Is a campfire allowed?

Unfortunately, open fires are not permitted in the nature reserve.

How many bedrooms are there? How big are the beds?

Holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos has 1 bedroom with a double boxspring bed (160x200) and a sofa bed (80x200). The sofa bed is comfortable for a child, less so for an adult.

Are there shops/bakeries nearby?

You’ll find addresses for shops and bakeries in the information brochure available in the holiday home. This information can also be found on our information page.

Can we arrive earlier? Check out later?

The answer to this depends on the specific situation. If guests are departing on the same day you arrive, the time between departure and arrival is needed for cleaning. Check-in time: from 4:30 PM. From 11:30 AM, you’re welcome to park your car at the holiday home and go for a bike ride or walk in the meantime. In the low season, earlier check-in may be possible. You can inquire about this at the earliest one week before arrival (last-minute bookings can still occur).

Later check-out: for check-outs on Monday or Friday, this is not possible due to cleaning. Check-out time is then 11 AM at the latest. On Sundays, a later check-out is possible, since no new guests are arriving. You can inquire about this at the earliest one week before arrival.

What is a “quiet zone”?

The nature reserve surrounding holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos is designated as a quiet zone. A quiet zone is a protected rural area where natural sounds such as birds and wind predominate, and disruptive noise is limited. This doesn’t mean it’s completely silent, but that noise is kept to a minimum so as not to disturb the animals. For this reason, loud music outdoors is not allowed. This is also why we advise guests looking to party to choose a different location. Cozy get-togethers or children running around are, of course, welcome. It’s a measure taken in the nature reserve to prevent noise at night. As a big advantage, it’s wonderfully peaceful at night. In fact, it’s one of the most common pieces of feedback we get from guests: “We slept wonderfully here” – and a well-rested person is worth two 😉.

Where is holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos located?

Holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos is located right in the heart of the nature of Hoge Kempen National Park, in the Ophovenderheide sub-area. The trail (long-distance hiking route) of the National Park passes by the holiday home, as do hiking and cycling routes (the latter about 150m away; holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos is located between junctions 33 and 34). Sentower Park is about 1.7km away.

Before your arrival, you’ll receive directions, and you can also find us on Google Maps (see the contact page).

Can we come by public transport?

The nearest train station is in Genk. From there, you can take a bus to Sentower Park. From there, it’s still a bit of a walk (through the forest) to holiday home Tussen Heide en Bos. Taxis are unfortunately hard to find (the station in Genk gives you the best chance of catching one). Would you still like to come by public transport? It’s best to contact us when booking, and we’ll see if there’s room to pick you up at the bus stop. Our car seats 4 people plus luggage space. We charge a fee of 45 EUR for this (one-way trip).

Bedroom: double boxspring 160x200cm, satellite TV, bathroom, hairdryer, separate toilet, sitting area; upon request: possibility for a 3rd person to sleep on the sofa bed in the bedroom

Did you accidentally press the wrong buttons and now the TV isn’t working? Take the TV remote (not the Digibox one) and press the small rectangle with the arrow at the top. Select HDMI 1 from the menu.
